4 strategies for making the most of your planned outage

3 min read

We know you want to avoid downtime in your power generation operation as much as possible. But to keep your turbines running smoothly and efficiently, scheduled outages are necessary. Here are four strategies to help you make the biggest impact in the least amount of time:

1. Make a plan & stick to it:

Before your scheduled outage, make sure your team is ready to tackle the most needed repairs as efficiently as possible. The more organized you are, the less downtime you need. Take a look at this blog post highlighting the best ways to plan ahead. Working with our Mobil Serv™ engineers can help in making the most out of any outage season.

2. Have everything you need ready to go:

Make sure you have all the equipment and personnel you need in advance. That way you’re not wasting precious downtime getting everything together.

3. Keep track along the way:

Keep detailed notes of timing, costs, and equipment utilization as you go. It may seem excessive, but this information will help you plan future outages more carefully.

4. Evaluate:

After your scheduled outage, gather your team and discuss what went well, where there’s area for improvement, what tools or equipment would have been helpful to have on-hand, etc. This extra step will give you important insights for the future—making your downtime even more impactful.

Mobil™ wants to help you stay ahead of the game, and by building out a plan and sticking to detailed notes, you’re ensuring that your scheduled outage goes smoothly. For more outage preparation tips and tricks, please find some helpful links below.
